First Colloquium
’Mechanics of Turbulence’,
Aug. 28th to Sept. 2nd

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Institut de Mécanique Statistique de la Turbulence (IMST) in Marseille, Professor Alexandre Favre has organized two international colloquiua devoted to turbulence. The first colloquium, entitled ‘Mécanique de la Turbulence’ (Mechanics of Turbulence), was held from August 28th to September 2nd 1961. Revue de presse TCM1961

The following papers were written by journalists from the three main newspapers published in Marseille in the sixties: Le Provençal (left wing), Le Méridional (right wing) and La Marseillaise (communist).
Those papers presented the two successive colloquia that Prof. Alexandre Favre was organizing in Marseile, from August 28th to September 9th 1961, and explained to the layman the issues that were discussed there.

The second colloquium, entitled ‘Les problèmes fondamentaux de la Turbulence et leurs relations avec la Géophysique’ (Fundamental problems of Turbulence and their relations to Geophysics), was held from September 4th to 9th 1961.
